Thinking Ahead to College and Beyond in 9th–12th Grade

Sanford’s upper school strikes an artful balance between focused, intensive, high-school academics and a community spirit that fosters joy and satisfaction in students’ accomplishments every day, both in and out of the classroom. The pride and vigor that comes from reaching goals and finding solutions permeates the campus and motivates our young people to see what else lies within their capabilities.

A challenging, college-prep curriculum

Sanford offers a full and flexible college-preparatory curriculum that stretches students to think deeply and critically, apply themselves and their knowledge effectively, and reach intellectual and creative places they have never been. Our talented faculty invests in teaching kids, not just content, and ensures that students leave here exceptionally equipped for college and for a life of rewarding work, dedicated service, and thoughtful leadership.
A complete program...with complete support

The upper school experience includes music, visual arts, and theater; spirited Warrior athletics; and clubs and activities of every kind. This allows students to discover new talents, explore interests, and enjoy time with friends. With the support of faculty advisors, students cultivate self-discipline, time-management and organizational skills, and a sense of personal responsibility.
Preparing for college

Our graduates repeatedly credit Sanford’s approach in preparing them for college courses as well as for college life. Families also value our attentive College Counseling program, which resourcefully helps students select schools that fit naturally with their personalities, interests, and ambitions.
Integrity and involvement

We have high standards for our students and encourage them to expect a lot of themselves—as individuals and as a community. Determined to make a difference, they willingly take on many roles and responsibilities. For example, Sanford’s student Honor Council representatives keep the Honor Code a present and relevant part of what we value in our scholarship and our social relationships.
