Record-Breaking Performances Propel Sanford Track Team at States
The Sanford Indoor Track Team delivered an outstanding performance at the DIAA Indoor Track & Field State Championships, earning several top finishes and breaking records along the way. Leading the team was seniorTegan Kovacs ’25, who impressed in both individual and relay events.
Kovacs finished as the state runner-up in the 800m with a time of 1:56.00, establishing himself as one of the state’s best middle-distance runners. He also played a key role in the Boys’ 4x800m Relay team, consisting of himself (1:55.94), Daniel Brake ’25 (2:03.65), Quinn Murphy ’25 (2:01.11), and Lazo Slijepcevic ’25 (1:57.30) which broke both the state and school records with a time of 7:57.96. Their remarkable effort earned them a silver medal in one of the state’s fastest relay races, with St. Mark’s narrowly taking first place.

Abby Moore '29: 10th place in the 400m (1:02.38), setting a school record as the only 8th grader in the final.

Mason Helmecki '26: 11th place in the High Jump (5-04.00).
