Middle School Students Win Honors in World Languages Design Competition

Two Sanford students, seventh grader Matthew Sutty and eighth grader Ananya Jain, recently took top honors in a design competition sponsored by the Delaware Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (DCTFL) on the theme of “Connecting Cultures Through World Languages.”
To enter, students needed to submit an application and an entry dealing with the theme in the form of visual art, poetry, song, essay, or another creative medium. Matthew and Ananya, under the guidance of Spanish instructor, World Languages Department Chair, and DCTFL member Jennifer McKay, each submitted a piece of visual art art conveying the power of languages to transcend boundaries of geography and culture.

You can view the students’ artwork at http://www.dectfl.org/student-contest-2016.html.

Congratulations to Matthew and Ananya!
