Budding Engineers Recognized During Robotics Competitions

Sanford students Trevor Schlack, Becca Goodier, Sam Stevenson, and Adrian Jenkins helped earn their robotics team, MOE365, recognition at a few recent events marking the start of competition season.
At the Springside-Chestnut Hill District event, the team seeded 6th overall, was eliminated in the quarterfinals, and won the Gracious Professionalism award, which recognizes sportsmanship in the competition.

At the Upper Darby District event, MOE, seeded 4th overall, was eliminated in the semifinals, and won the prestigious Engineering Inspiration award, which recognizes teams that promote engineering in schools and in the community.

MOE, which stands for “Miracle of Engineering,” is a team of students, teachers, parents, and sponsors who collaborate to build a robot that will compete in the annual FIRST Robotics Competition. The team unites 44 students from 14 different schools in the Delaware region.

FIRST, an acronym for “For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology,” sponsors robotics competitions, enabling students from around the country to work on their projects alongside professionals and to hone engineering, leadership, and teamwork skills.
