A Message from R. Jason Russell, on behalf of the Trustees of Sanford School and Head of School Committee
Dear Sanford Community,
The Sanford Board of Trustees is thrilled to announce that Jaime L. Morgan ‘02 has accepted the position as Sanford’s next Head of School, effective July 1, 2025. This leadership transition marks an exciting new chapter for our school.
In October of 2024, the Head of School Committee and the Board of Trustees partnered with Bob Henderson from RG175, a leading firm in the United States for head of school searches, to guide us through their rigorous process to identify the ideal successor to Mark Anderson. Through comprehensive interviews and surveys with faculty, staff, parents, alumni, and other community members, RG175 identified key characteristics for Sanford’s next Head of School.
Their findings shaped a clear vision of the qualities we sought in our next head of school: someone who values Sanford’s tight-knit community, possesses a forward-thinking strategic vision, and has the expertise to uphold and advance our strategic pillars: promoting educational excellence, furthering the school’s financial health, developing an inclusive culture, and enriching our future through fundraising and improvements to our facilities.
Jaime Morgan ‘02 stood out as the perfect choice to guide Sanford into its next chapter. As an alumna, Associate Head of School, current parent, and school leader, her connection to Sanford is multifaceted. With nearly 35 years of history with Sanford, she understands the transformative power of a Sanford education. Jaime’s deep roots in our community and her leadership expertise make her uniquely qualified to lead Sanford forward.
After graduating from Boston College in 2006 with a degree in psychology, Jaime started her career in consulting and nonprofit work before returning to Sanford in 2013. She earned an M.Ed. in Independent School Leadership in 2018 from The University of Pennsylvania Graduate School of Education. Jaime continues to serve in that program as a mentor to graduate school students.
As Associate Head of School, Jaime has a unique perspective that allows her to connect with prospective families, current families, faculty, staff, and alumni. She has led the admission and development teams, driving sustained growth. Jaime has played a pivotal role in strategic planning for the future of the school and in facilities planning and improvement. Jaime has partnered with the division heads to support faculty, always with the goal to best serve our students. Her leadership has enriched extended day, after-school, summer programs, and many other initiatives for several years. Her commitment to building lasting relationships has enriched the Sanford experience for countless individuals and families.
Selecting a Head of School is the most significant responsibility of the Board of Trustees, and we are proud and excited that Jaime L. Morgan ‘02 will be our next Head of School. Thank you to everyone who contributed to this important process. Please join me and the Sanford Board of Trustees in congratulating and supporting Jaime Morgan ‘02 as she becomes Sanford’s ninth Head of School on July 1 for the 2025-2026 academic year.
Sincerely,
R. Jason Russell, on behalf of the Trustees of Sanford School and Head of School Committee
President, Sanford Board of Trustees
Dear Sanford Community,
I am honored and excited to accept the position as Sanford’s next Head of School. It is a privilege to step into this role within a community that has meant so much to me throughout my life. I am deeply humbled that the Board has entrusted me with this opportunity to lead Sanford into its next chapter.
As a proud alumna, Sanford mom, and school leader, I love this school deeply. Sanford has not only shaped who I am both personally and professionally but has also instilled in me a profound appreciation for the values and traditions that make our community so extraordinary.
As we move forward, I recognize that transitions can bring both excitement and uncertainty. Mark Anderson has been a steadfast presence at Sanford for the past 14 years, and his leadership has left an indelible mark. I am grateful to have learned from him for the past 12 years. There is truly no better mentor.
My goal is to ensure continuity and stability while also building on the incredible work that has been done. We are fortunate to have a strong leadership team, faculty, and staff. I would argue, Sanford has the best in the business. My commitment to this exceptional group, our students and families, and Sanford’s mission remains unwavering.
I am excited for what lies ahead and to continue this journey with all of you.
Thank you for your ongoing support of Sanford.
Warmly,
Jaime L. Morgan ‘02
