Three Sanford Athletes Sign National Letters of Intent
On Wednesday, November 11th, seniors Carter Ayars, Mikey Dixon, and Taylor Sparks-Faulkner signed National Letters of Intent to continue their athletic careers in college.
The student-athletes signed their documents at the Irene S. du Pont Library, as family members, teammates, friends, and faculty joined them in the celebration.
A center midfielder and captain of the 2015 field hockey team, Carter Ayars will attend the University of Louisville in the fall of 2016. Carter is a stellar athlete who has made major contributions to Sanford's soccer and indoor track programs. Her honors include All-State and All-Conference recognition in field hockey and soccer.
One of the most prolific scorers in high school basketball, guard Mikey Dixon will attend Quinnipiac University in the fall of 2016. Coach Stan Waterman says Mikey's passion and love for the game have been the driving forces behind his success. Mikey's honors and awards include All-State All-State, All-Conference, and DIBCA Top 10 recognition.
Described by Coach Marcus Thompson as "the epitome of a student athlete," Taylor Sparks-Faulkner will attend Florida Southern College in the fall of 2016. A center/forward for the Lady Warriors basketball team, Taylor's honors and awards include a 2012–2013 state championship and All-Conference recognition.
The National Letter of Intent is a binding agreement between a prospective student and an NLI member university, committing the student to attend and play at the institution of choice for at least one year. Carter, Mikey, and Taylor signed their letters as part of an early agreement National Signing Day.
Congratulations and good luck to our athletes in their athletic and academic careers!
