Head of School Announcement

The Sanford Board of Trustees is thrilled to announce that Jaime L. Morgan ‘02 has accepted the position as Sanford’s next Head of School, effective July 1, 2025. This leadership transition marks an exciting new chapter for Sanford School.
In October of 2024, the Head of School Committee and the Board of Trustees partnered with Bob Henderson from RG175, a leading firm in the United States for head of school searches, to guide us through their rigorous process to identify the ideal successor to Mark Anderson. Through comprehensive interviews and surveys with faculty, staff, parents, alumni, and other community members, RG175 identified key characteristics for Sanford’s next Head of School.

Their findings shaped a clear vision of the qualities we sought in our next head of school: someone who values Sanford’s tight-knit community, possesses a forward-thinking strategic vision, and has the expertise to uphold and advance our strategic pillars: promoting educational excellence, furthering the school’s financial health, developing an inclusive culture, and enriching our future through fundraising and improvements to our facilities.

Jaime L. Morgan ‘02 graduated from Boston College in 2006 with a psychology degree and earned her M.Ed. in Independent School Leadership from the University of Pennsylvania in 2018. Since returning to Sanford in 2013, she has excelled in roles including Associate Head of School, leading admissions, development, and strategic planning while fostering meaningful relationships throughout the community.

“Jaime L. Morgan ‘02 embodies the values, vision, and leadership that make her the ideal choice as Sanford’s next Head of School,” said Trustee and fellow alum Kenny Mitchel ‘93. “Having worked closely with Jaime as an alum, donor, and board member, I have seen firsthand her dedication, talent, and deep understanding of what makes Sanford exceptional, and I am confident she will guide the school to an even brighter future.”

Former Board Member and Board Chair, William Lafferty shared, “I was honored to participate in the search process that led to Mark Anderson and his family coming to Sanford 14 years ago.  Mark’s leadership brought transformative change to Sanford.  One of Mark’s many good decisions was to hire Jaime about 12 years ago.  As a former Board member and Board Chair, I worked closely with Jaime and witnessed first-hand her communication and leadership skills.  Since her first day on the job, she has been completely committed to Sanford and the greater community, and I am confident she will lead Sanford to even greater success.  I congratulate the Head of School Committee and the Board of Trustees for their excellent selection!”

“Sanford has profoundly shaped who I am as an alumna, parent, and leader,” said Jaime L. Morgan ‘02. “I am honored to take on this role and committed to ensuring continuity while embracing opportunities for growth and innovation. Mark Anderson has been a steadfast presence at Sanford for the past 14 years, and his leadership has left an indelible mark. I am grateful to have learned from him for the past 12 years. There is truly no better mentor. Together with Sanford’s talented faculty, staff, and leadership team, I look forward to continuing our mission to nurture a diverse and inclusive community where students thrive.”

The Board thanks Mark Anderson for his 14 years of service as Head of School. His leadership has profoundly shaped Sanford’s success and legacy.

The Sanford community is invited to join in welcoming Jaime L. Morgan ‘02 as the school’s ninth Head of School.
